About this machine
Yogi Engineering Works's Air Shaft (air expandable shaft) is capable of compensating speed variation due to gauge variation with multi-cores. Reel holding is possible at any position across the width with a minimum 20 mm core width, and no time is lost re-positioning cores since no distance pieces are required. The shaft runs at very high speed, supports core ID 3", 4", 6" and 8" (metric and special sizes also produced), carries loads up to 2 tons and runs at speeds up to 1000 m/min. Suitable for paper, steel and thermoplastic cores. Construction: steel pipe, steel end generals (simple or hardened), brass cam and hardened-steel/rubber lugs. Available as Air Expandable, Lug Type, Bottom Knife Holding, Ball, Mechanical, Multi-Blade, Short Lug, Leaf Type, Air-Mechanical, Internal-Leaves & Short-Lug, and Carbon Fibre shafts.
Types we manufacture
Air Expandable Shaft
Standard air expandable shaft — inflates to grip cores at any position across the width, no distance pieces required, fast core changes.
Lug Type Air Shaft
Uses hardened-steel lugs for secure core gripping across all core widths — the most common type for slitting & rewinding lines.
Bottom Knife Holding Shaft
Specially designed shaft for holding bottom knives / slitter blades in position during slitting operations.
Ball Shaft
Ball-locking elements for fast core loading, precise reel holding and minimal setup time on high-output lines.
Mechanical Shaft
Mechanically expandable shaft — no air supply needed, ideal where pneumatic systems are unavailable.
Multi Blade Shaft
Multiple blade-holding positions on a single shaft for simultaneous multi-point slitting or core holding.
Short Lug Type Shaft
Compact lug-type shaft for narrow-width or space-constrained slitting and rewinding applications.
Leaf Type Shaft
Spring-leaf elements provide even pressure distribution across the full core surface for wrinkle-free winding.
Air-Mechanical Type Shaft
Combines air expansion with mechanical locking for extra-secure core holding under high load and speed.
With Intern Leaves and Short Lugs Shaft
Internal-leaves & short-lug hybrid shaft offering both distributed grip and positive locking for demanding converting lines.
Carbon Fibre Shaft
Lightweight carbon fibre construction for high-speed, high-precision applications requiring minimal rotating mass and maximum rigidity.
